Linn Creek is located in the southeast section of the lake region, and the 65052 zip code includes the south side of the main channel MMs28-32, and the Grand Glaize Arm MM3-12, with a large portion of it consists of rolling hills and glades, as well as the Lake of the Ozarks State Park. These secluded and pristine areas provide opportunities for fishing, hunting, hiking, riding, and an abundance of off the Lake activities, while still being minutes away from all the conveniences the lake has to offer, and with over 10 miles of residential properties on or near the main channel, Linn Creek can provide best of both worlds.
In 1841, Linn Creek was settled at the junction of the Niangua and Osage river, and was named for the creek, purportedly related to the Linn Trees lining it's banks. It was the county seat of Camden County until 1929, when the county seat was moved to Camdenton in anticipation of the dam flooding the town, even though the town was moved up the hill to higher ground before completion of the dam. Fantastic stories abound about the 'ghost town' still under the lake, and all the speculations that ensue, but engineers and financiers of the dam project were very specific and meticulous, according to records, and after purchasing the land from various owners, they demolished the buildings and harvested the trees, as had been done in other locations, to ensure the safety of Lake Activities, and the Dam, well into the future.
With Osage Beach and Lake Ozark just north on route 54, Linn Creek is just minutes away from all the Lake amenities, while still providing easy accessibility to all that natural surroundings of the Lake region. Route Y extends East from town into the peninsula, which only houses a few businesses, and is generally populated with a variety residential options, from views of the main channel, to secluded locations. Boat Rentals and Fishing Guides are a few conveniences on this peninsula, and the Y Road General Store, at the main intersection provide gas and hot food, as well as supplies, right at your fingertips. Seven Spring Winery, less than a mile east of the 54, always provides and enjoyable afternoon, or a comfortable location to host your next event, and the Big Surf Waterpark. right on the 54, is always a popular location to enjoy a different sort of water sport with family and friends off the lake.
Farther East on state route A, and away from the Lakefront areas, Linn Creek hosts the Missouri Trapshooters Association, which has been around since the turn of the century under a different name, and features 60 traps, golf carts, and team events, all in a family friendly environment. Just south of route A is the Forget Me not Horse Sanctuary, a non-profit horse rescue location that is mostly run by volunteers, and features riding lessons and trail rides for all ages and riding styles. In typical Lake fashion, Linn creek also presents The Golf Club at Deer Chase tucked into the rolling glades and woodlands, with several water features, leagues, and events, all with spectacular views and reasonable memberships.
The Lake of the Ozarks State Park in Linn Creek provides lake access on the Grand Glaize Arm at MM19 of the main channel, and grants a staggering amount of activities and leisure opportunities year round. With multiple marinas and boat ramps along it's shores, the water is easily approachable, and with several beaches and docks, one doesn't even need a boat to enjoy swimming or fishing along the shores. Nature trails are plentiful, and many are open to bicycle and horseback riding, as well as numerous picnic areas, stores and recreation areas along the way, allowing easy appreciation of these protected areas for any appetite. Rappelling and rock climbing options also abound, with the required permits, and other attractions include a swinging bridge, and the Ozark Caverns, with unique phenomenon, and a half mile, round trip, guided tour that is appropriate for all ages. Linn Creek truly enhances the Lake Experience in a variety of ways, on or off the water, and at any time of year, making this an exceptional location to live or invest year round.
