Boating is the prominent aquatic pastime on the Lake, and as it's open to watercraft use 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, much of the Lake enjoyment revolves around boating, watercraft, related activities and transportation. With no speed limit during the daylight hours, performance boats abound at Lake of the Ozarks, and several annual events highlight this fact with races and high speed contests of all sorts, enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. Other powerboats, including pontoons, are also popular, and related activities such as waterskiing, wakeboarding and towed tubing are very popular, as well as yachting, sailing, or just pulling into a quiet cove for swimming and relaxing with friends and family, which can be a great way to meet like minded people and create community experiences.
With an amazing amount of coves and hollows, jet skis and paddle sports are also very popular, and more than a few locations on the lake provide rental opportunities for tow behind sports and paddle boating alike. No matter where on the Lake of the Ozarks you stay or live, charters or equipment of all types can be easily accessed, and from the Dam in Lake Ozark, through MM38 at Sunrise Beach, watersports rentals or charters can found every 5 miles or less, making the Lake activities accessible to everyone, no matter what your preference may be, or what is currently available in your dock storage or garage. Wakeboard, waterski, SUP, and an array of paddling lessons are often available at these facilities, and the Lake features events year round for those who participate or compete in these endeavors, for every age and skill level.
Fishing at Lake of the Ozarks is also a popular and outstanding activity, and with the amazing diversifications of shoreline features among the multitude of inlets, fishing on the Lake can be both rewarding and challenging, from shoreline, dock or pier. This diversity provides a wide range of underwater ecosystems, hosting more than 10 different species of fish that can be found in a variety of locations, which may provide years of enjoyment to discover, while locals and guides are readily available to exchange tips and tricks with, as well as hire for guided experiences. Lake of the Ozarks also hosts annual fishing competitions several times a year, often sponsored in part by local tackle shops and charter services in the area, and many other lake locations participate by providing check in services, supplies, and other necessities during these events. No matter where you are on the Lake, fishing opportunities are always just around the next bend.
